[K-Drama] [Drama Recap] EXO Next Door : Episode 8

The episode picks up where the last one left off with D.O. practicing his lines with Yeon Hee. He says, “Look at me. Look into my eyes. When I see your eyes, I’m finally at peace.” D.O. says all this while Yeon Hee is gazing straight into his eyes. Baekhyun is watching them both the whole time and tells Yeon Hee to continue with the emotions and continue reading the lines.

Yeon Hee looks back at the script and reads the next line, but her tone of voice sounds very formalized. The two of them continue for a few more lines, until Yeon Hee starts to visualize the scene actually taking place and her face starts to turn red.


Baekhyun tells her to continue with the next line, but Yeon Hee closes the script and excuses herself from the room by saying that she isn’t feeling well.

Baekhyun asks D.O. what Yeon Hee means about not feeling well and D.O. just smiles and laughs. He tells Baekhyun that Yeon Hee is probably just embarrassed. At this piece of news, Baekhyun moves to sit closer to D.O. to ask if maybe she got too into character. D.O. responds that Yeon Hee is very innocent.

We see Yeon Hee, who had rushed into the living room with her face still red, scolding herself for having gotten too into character. She worries that by looking at her face, the two of them could probably tell. She hears a phone ring and recalls what her friend said about how Cho Minhwan will contact her within three days. Thinking that it might be him, she heads to the kitchen where she believes her phone is.

Once she enters the kitchen, she sees Chanyeol with her phone in his hand, looking down at the caller “Prince Cho”. She rushes to grab the phone from him, but Chanyeol holds the phone up and out of her reach so that she can’t get it. She struggles in frustration until she ends up yelling at him to give it to her. Sensing that she may have raised her voice a bit too much, she immediately apologizes to Chanyeol before attempting to grab her phone again.

Chanyeol questions her by asking if the caller is really her first love, and it causes Yeon Hee to think back to the time when she was going to give Minhwan a gift. She also recalls when she had met up with him most recently and then Chanyeol had appeared. We don’t return to the scene where Yeon Hee is trying to get her phone, but instead see Chanyeol sitting on the couch staring outside the window.

The scene then switches to D.O. in another room, staring out the window while recalling his practice script reading with Yeon Hee. He thinks that maybe she might have been overwhelmed. The scene then switches back to Chanyeol who is staring out towards Yeon Hee’s room, which has the curtains closed. He thinks back to when he picked up her phone and wonders if Yeon Hee would be dating that caller.

Meanwhile, Yeon Hee is back at home watching EXO on TV on one of their variety shows. She sees how happy Chanyeol looks on the screen and wonders what happened over the past year that made him so grumpy. As she’s watching, she gets a message from Chanyeol telling her to come to work immediately. Even though it is early, she tells him she’s coming.

At the house, she is immediately put to work and we see a flash forward sequence with her running around the house and responding to the demands of all of the EXO members in the house with repeated calls of Incheon Gal. Back at home, Yeon Hee complains to her friend Gaeun about how much her body is aching. Gaeun gets straight to the point and asks her if Minhwan had called again or not.

Yeon Hee responds that he didn’t, so Gaeun says that Yeon Hee needs to change her style and play hard to get. She tells Yeon Hee not to call him first, and put it into her mind that every guy loves her. Gaeun pulls down a poster of EXO from the wall and tells Yeon Hee that every single EXO member within that poster loves her. Gaeun tells her to learn to control her thoughts, but Yeon Hee gets red just thinking about it.

Her heart beats faster as she imagines what Gaeun is telling her and thinks aloud while saying, “Real love?” Yeon Hee’s brother peeks into the room at this point so he hears what she said and sees her red face while looking at a poster of EXO.

While hanging out with Sehun, Yeon Hee’s brother immediately tells him what he saw and overheard Yeon Hee say. Sehun is surprised and asks if he’s saying that Yeon Hee likes one of them and if so who? Sehun goes through the different members and questions, “Handsome D.O? Charismatic Chanyeol? Actually Baekhyun is popular with the ladies.”

When it comes time for Sehun to think if it could be himself, Yeon Hee’s brother immediately shuts that thought down, which makes Sehun a bit upset. He tells him that he doesn’t have to guarantee that the person Yeon Hee likes absolutely wouldn’t be him. However, Yeon Hee’s brother makes him feel better by saying that he knows it’s not him because his sister has the worst taste in men and therefore would never fall for such a perfect man like Sehun.

Sehun then brings this news back to D.O., Baekhyun, and Chanyeol. Baekhyun clarifies that Sehun is saying that Yeon Hee likes one of them. Sehun says yes, which makes D.O. look up to stare at him, and continues on to say that she is madly in love. Chanyeol speaks up to say that it’s not surprising at all with a slight smile on his face. Baekhyun then points out that the notebook Chanyeol is holding is upside down. Chanyeol is a bit flustered as he rushes to re-position the notebook while clearing his throat.

Baekhyun continues on to ask Sehun who it is that Yeon Hee likes. Sehun begins his sentence with, “The EXO member she really likes is……” which causes Chanyeol to look up and Sehun starts moving his finger around to point at each of the members. Sehun’s pointing finger moves past each member. Chanyeol and D.O. look a bit expectant until Sehun finishes his sentence with, “…….not here”.

Both Chanyeol and D.O. keep silent but Baekhyun questions about who would be the member she likes that is not here. Sehun decides to just blurt out that it’s Kai. Chanyeol shakes his head in disapproval and Baekhyun can’t believe it. D.O. just has a blank expression on his face. As they are discussing this, they hear the sound of the pin number being entered at their door. They wonder who is entering and whether or not it is Yeon Hee. As all four of them look towards the door, the person who has entered is none other than Kai himself.
