A Princess Hairstyle, Literally!
Our hair tutorial this week is inspired by a Kate Middleton hairstyle. We saw Kate, aka "Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge" wearing this lovely half-up, half-down "tie back" knotted hairstyle in a photo recently and immediately knew that we wanted to try and recreate it. This is truly a Princess Hairstyle!
I admire Kate's (or Catherine's) classic, ladylike, and timeless style (both in fashion and in hair.) She always seems to look so elegant and put together. We love that this particular hairstyle is simple, yet still unique and stylish. Adding some curls or waves would also be a lovely touch if you have some extra time.
This hairstyle is quick and fairly easy to create, although the bobby pinning can be a little tricky. I have found that using "miniature pins" helps a lot, as it is much easier to hide a tiny bobby pin rather than a full size one (especially if your hair is not extremely thick.) I would recommend finding some small, salon quality pins with a strong hold. We found ours at Sally Beauty Supply.
This half up hairstyle could work for both casual and special occasions, although I wouldn't recommend this one for sports or very active days. This is more of a delicate style that wouldn't hold up well to a lot of activity.
Supplies Needed:
- Several small bobby pins
- 2 small hair elastics
- Gel, pomade, hair wax (or water) to help control flyaways
