jessicarlo.blogspot.com - I have been successful in finding out a recipe for D and decided on this double chocolate cookies, with double damaka of chocolate treat that I saw in Priya's space. I had couple of other choices for this, however as always I settled for a chocolate one as it's easy to expect it to disappear.
Double Chocolate Cookies
All purpose flour/ Maida - 1 cup
Sugar - 1 cup
Cocoa powder - 1/2 cup
Dark Chocolate, coarsely chopped - 1/2 cup
Unsalted butter - 1/2 cup
Vanilla essence - 1 tsp
Salt - a pinch
How to make the cookies
Preheat the oven to 170 C. Line a baking tray with baking sheet.
Sift together the cocoa powder, flour, salt in a bowl.
Meanwhile beat together the butter, sugar, vanilla in a bowl till it becomes creamy. Takes about couple of minutes if the butter is soft.
Add in the flour mixture, mix well.
Finally gently fold in the chocolate chunks.
Take a medium sized ball from the cookie dough, drop it on the lined baking tray with enough spaces in between.
Bake for 12-15 minutes until the cookies are flat with mild crack on the top.
Let them cool for few minutes.
Notes:
Mine took nearly 20 minutes to get crispy. And leaving it to cool will ensure the cookies turn crispy.
Store in an airtight container, if these stay beyond the expected time frame.
I baked it as I was making my Sunday lunch, and I was shocked to see how Peddu was leaning on the Oven door to see what was getting baked. I was very furious and told him never to do. However he wanted to know if I was baking something chocolate. The heavenly aroma that was coming out of the oven was simply too irresistible. He eve refused to have his lunch, saying he will settle for these cookies.
I told him that he will not get even a bit if the lunch was not consumed. Well that did the trick and very quickly the lunch was taken care so that this can be enjoyed. I got about 15 - 17 cookies and trust me, they were only keen on getting the numbers lower!
I strictly told them that ever was left was for next day school snack. They reluctantly agreed and I was able to save couple of them for the snack next day. I tasted a tiny bit just to know if it tasted as sinful it looked. Yes it did and surely slides on the sides as well!
